Heres a blast from the past. Ibanez produced some great basses in the 1980s but none more respected and widely used than the Musician series. This bass is almost vintage status as it approaches its 35th birthday this year. If our memory serves correctly, this could be termed the Countdown Bass, as just about every second band appearing on the classic Aussie music show in the early 80s featured an Ibanez bass.
These are extremely well made and great sounding basses that are a delight to play. They sound fat and ballsy, but not exactly like a Fender. So if you wanted a big but distinctive sound, the Ibanez Musician was a very viable option.
And it remains so today. Everything about its construction screams quality. And this particular instrument is in excellent condition. It has stood the test of time, and you can compare it with any modern bass, and it will still score the points.
The Ibanez Musician series was introduced in 1979 with the MC-800 and MC-900 models. By 1981 the MC-824 was the base model, while the MC-924 added a three-band EQ.

Various Musician models were endorsed and/or used by several high profile musicians, including Sting of The Police, Adam Clayton of U2, Fleetwood Macs John McVie, The Whos John Entwistle, Mark Egan, Dee Dee Ramone, Mike Porcaro of Toto, Victor Bailey, and James Freud of Australian band The Models. Stings fretless Musician is said to be the instrument he used most in The Police. Adam Clayton used his Musicians as his main instruments from around 1981 through to 1984.
This is a fabulous sounding bass with an extremely versatile EQ system that enables the player to dial in many sound options. The pickups sound exceptional and the neck is remarkably comfortable. This instrument features excellent construction including a neck-through-body design with an ash body so theres plenty of natural sustain.
This Ibanez Musician is in very good shape. There are a few minor surface scratches, nicks & dents etc, with some buckle rash on the back. The ebony fingerboard is beautiful and the frets are in great shape with only light wear and tons of life left in them. The neck is set with a comfortable action and the truss rod functions properly. All electronics and parts are in perfect working condition.
